Gerald (Jerry) JonesArtist and Creative Designer Born in Mt. Holly, North Carolina, Jerry Jones began drawing at an early age. His interest in art started from the "Pop" art pages of comic books bought for him by his dad: Batman and Spider-Man, as drawn by the likes of Steve Ditko, Jim Aparo, and Jack Kirby ( to name a few ) were the artistic masters in whose work he was most interested.
" Growing up, I enjoyed drawing from Marvel and D.C. comics . I loved the color and the action of the comics first and later on began to appreciate the writing itself. I also spent a great deal of time drawing from the football scenes in 'Punt, Pass and Kick Library' of the NFL books. The collision, the mud and the grit were what I loved about such still shots. My interest was not that broad and that was just fine with me." What was the single most influencial drive to draw and create: "I grew up drawing, pen and pencil. That is how I spent my time but the greatest influence to come that really shaped my perspective, especially on right and wrong, was the person of Jesus Christ. Christ changed my life . My tastes and convictions have been shaped by His word, the Bible and I desire to encourage others with what I create to hopefully look in His direction. Any good thing or talent we have comes from Him and should be so used to bring Him honor." A graduate of Kennesaw College , he worked at Home Depot for eleven years before embarking on his first attempt at custom illustration and printing under the name of “Living Stone Wear." This would last for 16 years but eventually would come to an end in 2012. Since then, he has turned his attention to full time custom illustration covering everything from storyboard work, logo design to fine art pen and ink work. When not working, he and his wife, Kim, enjoy time together along with their son and daughter, Austin and Ashley and their respective spouses. |
